United States’, Patriot Day (also known as America Remembers) occurs on September 11 of each year, designated in memory of those who died in the September 11, 2001 attacks.

U.S. House Joint Resolution 71 was approved by a vote of 407-0 on October 25, 2001. It requested that the President designate September 11 of each year as "Patriot Day." President George W. Bush signed the resolution into law on December 18, 2001 (as Public Law 107-89). As such, it is not an official public holiday, but rather a discretionary day of remembrance.

On September 4, 2002, President Bush used his authority created by the resolution and proclaimed September 11, 2002 as Patriot Day. He has continued to make similar declarations every year since.

On September 11, 2002, Patriot Day also became known as America Remembers, invoking the title CNN used for its coverage of the first anniversary of 9/11.

On this day, the President directs that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff and displayed from individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad. The President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 A.M. (Eastern Daylight Time) marking the first plane crash on September 11.

Some countries have also shared Patriot Day with the U.S. as well. For example, in Canada, the government orders flags on the Peace Tower and on all Canadian diplomatic missions in the U.S. be flown at half-staff on September 11.

Last year my wife and I Observed this day, honoring those that were killed by the cowardly attack, by the heroic act of crashing the plane and by the sacrifices made in the line of duty. I am a Cuban Citizen, I am a permanent resident of this country, I honor these patriots and martyrs. Can you say the same. Pass it on, lets make it a habit.

As a child in school I was also taught honor, respect, duty, SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, regardless of your political affiliation, feelings towards GW, stand on war, these are our children, most of them poor or low income who joined the service to improve their lives, and are now protecting ours while doing their duty. If you see someone in military dress, they may be coming from or going to, take a second and say THANKS. Remember we have an all volunteer military, What if nobody joined?

And while I am on the subject of honor, duty and respect in recognition of UNITED STATES CODE . 36 U.S.C. § 172 I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America , and to the Republic for which it stands,One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all .

May God guide our leadership with wisdom and resolve.

If you agree. Pass this letter along, if you don’t oh well, I need not elaborate!!!!
